FAQ Section

Q.) Where do I Start?

A.) You can start by contacting me, either by telephone, E-mail or when I am online, through one of the Instant Messaging services.

Q.) What kind of information will you need from me?

A.) If you wish me to go ahead and design your project, I would like you to compile as much information as possible about your project, ideally in computer format (Microsoft Word etc.). You can provide a sketch, hard-copy artwork or suggestions of sites you admire. Alternatively you can give us a few style ideas and descriptions of the type of 'look' you're trying to achieve. I will then let you know a rough timescale to produce the draft of your project.

Q.) How do I send you pictures & text?

A.) The quickest way is to post or e-mail them. You can post the original images, send them on a disk/CD or e-mail the pictures to me. The same goes for text, but if you post it in printed form, please allow extra time for typing large amounts of text. (NOTE: I charge extra for this)

Please label the pictures, clearly indicating which page of your website they are to go on. As with pictures, text should be clearly labelled with page 1, page 2, etc, or with the title of the relevant page, e.g. 'About Us'.

When this first stage is complete, I will either e-mail you with the web site address where your website is being displayed or send you a PDF of your project. You can then tell me anything you wish to change before it goes to print or the web site uploaded to your domain name.

Q.) How do I pay?

A.) You can pay me by Cheque, BACS (which is prefered), or via Paypal. Please let me know which way you prefer to pay, and I will sort out the information for you.

I require a 50% deposit for projects of £200 & under, and 30% for all other projects. This is refundable in the initial stages of the project if you don't like the preliminary designs and I cannot change them to suit your requirements.

Web Design FAQs

Q.) How do I register a domain name?

A.) You can purchase your own domain name at many websites across the Internet. Just remember to take into account that you will need to host the website too. You will need to purchase the Domain Name from the same company that you wish to host the website with.
Although I can register a domain for you, I would prefer that you register it yourself. This means that when your domain gets to its expiry date, you will be the one being asked to renew the registration. If it's left to me, I am more likely to miss the e-mail or have trouble contacting you, and the domain will expire allowing someone else to purchase it. Also, it will be cheaper for you. I don't do things for free you know!

Q.) Will the site be optimised for search engines?

A.) I will optimise each web page using Meta Tags, Keywords, Page Titles, Image Alt text & basic page text. This helps some search engines to find websites, but the best way to get your site onto a search engines is to get them listed by your website host, or do it yourself using the company where you registered your domain.
